The Fields

Wednesday night we headed down to check out the beans and sunflowers. We all loaded in the ranger. Lydia was not a happy camper that her mother was riding along and pretty much through a fit the whole way down there trying to push me out of the passenger sit. You see our fields are just south of our house on a gravel road...so, yes, we don't always make Lydia ride in a car seat. Needless to say I just rode in the back on the way home which Lydia thought was pretty cool.

Kane and Lydia ventured out in the middle of the bean Field. I stayed put...I'm never dressed right. I mean who wears capri pants and flip flops in the middle of all that? I can't believe how tall the bean are. Just to get an idea..Kane is 6'4'' and wears a 36'' inseam in pants...and they are up to his waist. Lydia still wasn't in the best of moods. She kept saying "down, down" but, didn't like walking through the field. She was having a tough night :(

Lydia and her daddy checking things out.
A soybean up close and personal. They looked pretty good and tasted good as well!
Lydia getting her first taste of a soybean...I think she liked it :)
The sunflowers were finally in bloom and looked beautiful. Kane thought that they would be blooming for about two more weeks. So, hopefully we can make it back down next week to take some more pictures.

Ranch Anyone?!?!?

The other day while I was cooking supper Lydia decided to explore the kitchen pantry. This is something that she does pretty much daily. It absolutely drives me nuts. I spend so much time picking up paper plates, napkins, forks, spoons, bags of chips, cans of food...you name it, she gets it out. My life would be SO much easier if I could find a way she wouldn't be able to open the door. We have tried one device...and Kane broke it by the time with tried it on the pantry door. I am determined to find something today at the local Wal-Mart--wish me luck!

Lydia hugging the Sam's size of ranch dressing--I mean really I don't even think she is a big fan

Fun With Friends

Last weekend we had very special guests come and stay with us. Dan and Jeff are two of Kane's fraternity brothers who we are very close with. Dan, wife Kim and daughter Callie made the long trip south. Jeff, wife Angie and daughter Segen also made the long trip. We had a wonderful weekend! Both families came down Friday night and stayed until Sunday. We had a jammed packed weekend planned.

Here is a picture of the girls having an after breakfast snack before heading to the park. We had beautiful weather so we decided to take advantage by playing on the new equipment and hanging out with the ducks.

Who doesn't love to swing?

The play equipment filled up quickly so we headed around the circle to check out the ducks. We found a large group that, well, didn't stay around for long. The poor things did have three toddlers chasing them.

Callie and Segen wondering why they are leaving :(

And this is my daughter being awful lazy...hanging out in Callie's stroller!
Saturday night we had a small gathering for all our close friends that know Dan, Jeff and families. I think everyone had a fun time. When everyone was leaving on Sunday...Lydia was crying at the door...no...stay...I think she had a fun time. Thanks for making the trip!
